The UFS technical brochure UNIVERSAL APPLICATIONS is dedicated to the range of taps for universal and high-productivity applications, designed to ensure high performance in the tapping of steels, stainless steels, cast irons, aluminium alloys, titanium, nickel and non-ferrous materials with tensile strength up to Rm ≤ 1200 N/mm².
A practical tool that brings together UFS solutions for industrial threading on medium- and high-strength materials, with cutting taps and roll taps available for through holes, blind holes and mixed applications. The range includes taps with corrected chamfer, straight flutes with chipbreaker geometry, spiral flute taps at 15° and 45°, versions with CSC – Chip System Control and FOR/FORY internal coolant to improve chip evacuation, cooling and process reliability.
The solutions are manufactured from high-performance steels such as PM3, HSSE-PM and PM8, with advanced coatings including XP, TXC, TiN-G and AHI, designed to increase wear resistance, reduce friction and optimise tool life. The range also includes K-ROLL roll taps, ideal for chipless threading on formable materials and medium- to high-strength steels.

K24/K25
Spiral point for through holes, PM3 steel, XP coating. The chip flow is directed forward in the direction of the tool feed; suitable exclusively for through holes. Threading depth up to 3xD. Also available with radial coolant holes for improved chip evacuation (FORY). Application on steels up to Rm≤ 1200 N/mm², stainless steels, and non-ferrous materials.
K40/K41 XP • K40/K41 FOR-XP
15° helical taps, HSSE-PM sintered steel, XP coating, for high-productivity applications. Suitable for applications on medium-to-high strength materials with Rm ≤ 1200 N/mm², ductile and malleable cast iron, aluminium alloys with Si ≤ 10%, titanium, and nickel alloys. For blind holes up to 2.5xD; chip flow is opposite to the tool's feed direction. Also available in the version with central coolant (FOR), which ensures optimal lubrication during machining.
K44/K45 FOR-XP
A tool family designed with a 15° right-hand helix, engineered to improve chip evacuation. The chip breaker prevents bird-nesting. For blind holes up to 3xD, the chip flow is opposite to the tool's feed direction. It is suitable for both vertical and horizontal threading. Available exclusively in the version with central coolant, ensuring optimal lubrication during machining.
K82/K83 XP • K82/K83 FOR-XP
45° helix spiral flute taps made of PM3 powder metallurgy HSS with XP coating, suitable for universal applications, particularly on stainless steels and medium-to-high tensile strength materials (Rm ≤ 1200 N/mm²). Designed for deep blind holes up to 3-3.5xD, they pull the chips backward, opposite to the feed direction. Also available with central coolant-through (FOR) to ensure optimal lubrication. The back taper reduction lowers reversing torque and prevents tooth chipping, while the updated CSC (Chip Control System) design guarantees superior chip control and evacuation.

For materials with elongation greater than 10% and generally for medium-high strength steels up to Rm < 1200 N/mm². Standard thread tolerances are 6HX, 2BX. The X indicates the standard tolerance increment for material shrinkage compensation after the tapping process. Also available with the new generation AHI coating. The required torque is 1.5–2 times higher compared to cutting taps. The coolant grooves, and internal hole, improved lubrication and heat dissipation.
